Dancing Witness

  • Loovruum 6/2 Tulika põik Tallinn, Harju maakond, 10613 Estonia (map)

"Deep witnessing and listening can relieve suffering in ourselves and another."
...Thich Nhat Hanh

2020 has been a crazy year for most of us. Many basic structures and paradigms of our Western societies got questioned.
Do we really need to work 8 hours a day? Do we really need to go every day to our offices? Do the people who don't work in offices (the ones who indeed keep everything functioning) really not deserve higher salaries?
I am in the privileged position that for me the slowing down of this year could feel like a breath of fresh air.

So how do you slow down? How do we take a pause together?
Is it a relief or a restriction? Can you enjoy a slow morning, day, or even weeks?
What are you left with when much of the activities fall away?
Can you stay present with that?
How can we attune to nature and the approaching Winter Solstice, and settle, rest for a while?
Can we, as a society, witness what changes the worldwide coronavirus pandemic has brought, and how all our governments respond similarly or differently to it?
Can we witness which way the climate crisis moves on, as most of our attention is captured by the coronavirus?

And... can we just fucking enjoy a great dance to badass beats in good company at the same time?!

We will practice pausing, witnessing ourselves, each other, and our world.
And from this still point, we will take the next move, the next step, the next action.
Let this next step be informed by what we discovered in the pause.

This will be an Open Floor Movement Practice session lead by Bence Gáspár (bencegaspar.com) in English and assisted by Eeva Kallis. There are no steps to follow, you can move as you like. There will be a variety of music that supports this movement / dance exploration, and besides free dancing, we will also offer some guidance and a couple of exercises. This is to resource ourselves through movement for our everyday lives.

Eesti keelne kirjeldus:
